Ken Susilo Joins P3 Water Summit Stormwater Management Panel
Ken Susilo (California) will join a panel discussing public-private partnerships (P3) and performance based infrastructure (PBI) for stormwater management at the P3 Water Summit at the Manchester Grand Hyatt San Diego Hotel in San Diego, California in Grand Ballroom C from 10:45 a.m. to 11:45 a.m. on May 5, 2017.
The Panel, entitled "Applying P3s to Stormwater," will discuss how cities and counties are in need of technically sound solutions and funds for implementation, funds which are limited by political and policy challenges.
Despite the recent rains, continuing drought conditions potentially face many areas of the country; and with population growth, resiliency and sustainability are critical long term needs. Stormwater (as well as recycled water) represent an option for providing low cost commodity of the water agencies. Administratively, however, in many areas different agencies are responsible for storm water quality, flood control, groundwater remediation, and water supply.
The Panel, which includes Amanda Carr (Deputy Director, OC Public Works; Adel Hagekhalil (Assistant Director, LA Sanitation; and Dr. Cris Liban, Executive Officer Metropolitan Transportation Authority), will also discuss how performance-based requirements could include the development of new environmental infrastructure joined with appropriate levels of operations, maintenance, and asset management. The Panel will explore how PBI and P3s might provide opportunities to provide holistic solutions to technical, financial, risk, political and governance needs.
On the first formal day of the conference (May 4, 2017), Susilo will also host a series of roundtable discussions. The roundtable discussions, entitled "P3s as Part of the Stormwater Solution" will be between 10:30 AM and 12:00 PM in Grand Ballrooms A and B.
Ken Susilo, PE, D.WRE, CPSWQ, is a Senior Principal and water resources engineer based in California with more than 25 years of experience developing innovative approaches and creating multi-benefit, environmentally-sensitive solutions to stormwater quality and water supply challenges.
