Geosyntec to Present at DFI International Conference

Jamey Rosen (Ontario), Daniel Woeste (Illinois), and Mustafa Erten (Texas) will be presenting at the DFI International Conference on Deep Foundations, Seepage Control, and Remediation at the New York Marriott Marquis on October 14-15, 2016.

Jamey's presentation will be at 8:30am, Saturday, October 15. It is entitled "Interactive 3-Dimensional Modeling of Anchors at Bluestone Dam" and it will describe the technology used to build a detailed interactive 3D GIS/MicroStation model of the Bluestone Dam, with a special focus on analyzing data associated with construction of geotechnical anchors.

Daniel's presentation will be at 11:30am, Saturday, October 15. It is entitled "Value-Engineering of H-Pile Foundations in Karstic" and it will describe the in-situ geotechnical testing and subsequent data analysis that was used to value engineer H-pile foundations located in karstic geology. The presentation will emphasize the economic and risk reduction benefits of a design phase testing program and underscore the need for consistent communication between parties in the field.

Mustafa's presentation will be at 5:30pm, Friday, October 14. It is entitled "Buttressing Berms for Stability of Cantilever Sheet Piles – Limit Equilibrium and Finite Element Approaches" and it will describe a parametric study using conventional limit equilibrium and finite element methods to evaluate the effect of a buttressing berm and the soil friction angle on the sheet pile wall stability and deformation.

Other attendees from Geosyntec include: Paul Sabatini (Illinois), Will Tanner (Georgia), and Andrew Higgins (Ontario).

DFI's 41st Annual Conference is introducing a new technical track in 2016, featuring seepage control and remediation for dam and levee projects worldwide. To reflect this addition, the conference title is DFI International Conference on Deep Foundations, Seepage Control and Remediation. As always, the DFI conference will attract industry professionals from across the globe to gather and share experiences, exchange ideas and learn the current state-of-the-practice from various disciplines. Engineers, contractors, manufacturers, suppliers, owners, government agencies and academicians will meet in New York City to attend informative technical sessions, learn more about the latest innovations in deep foundations technology in the Exhibit Hall and much more. The added technical track will also provide a forum for exchange on risk management learned from major dam and levee rehabilitation projects being performed in North America and knowledge gained from the design and construction of new dams and flood control systems around the world.
