Brandon Steets to Co-Present a Four Part ASCE Continuing Education Webinar

Brandon Steets (California) to Co-Present a four-part American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) continuing education webinar: Pathogens in Urban Stormwater Systems.

He will co-present in all four webinars given as part of the ASCE continuing education webinar series. This four-part series will probe those challenges and opportunities, based on the 2014 ASCE report co-edited by Brandon entitled Pathogens in Urban Stormwater Systems.

Protection of recreational beneficial uses is becoming one of the costliest and ubiquitous challenges for stormwater managers in the United States. Multi-tiered approaches, and in some cases multi-billion dollar implementation plans, have been developed to address fecal indicator bacteria (FIB) total maximum daily load (TMDL)s. Due to its nature, FIB presents unique challenges.  Recent advances in the state-of-the-practice (e.g., innovative stormwater planning tools) and the state-of-the-science (e.g., for source identification and risk assessment) have created opportunities for innovative and adaptive cost-saving approaches to the protection of recreational beneficial uses.

Here is the webinar times and information:

  • Part I   Pathogens in Urban Stormwater Systems: A Practical Guide for MS4s on Wednesday, May 4, 2016, at 11:30 a.m. – 1:00 p.m., ET
  • Part II   Pathogens in Urban Stormwater Systems: Understanding and Identifying Sources on Monday, May 23, 2016 at 12:00 p.m. – 1:30 p.m., ET
  • Part III Pathogens in Urban Stormwater Systems: Transport of Pathogens in the Environment on Tuesday, June 14, 2016 at 12:00 p.m. – 1:30 p.m., ET
  • Part IV Pathogens in Urban Stormwater Systems: Source Controls and Stormwater Measures on Thursday, July 21, 2016 at 11:30 a.m. – 1:00 p.m., ET

You can earn up to 6 professional development hours by registering for all four parts of the webinars series, and each part must be registered individually.
