Glenn Rix Appointed to Advisory Committee on Earthquake Hazards Reduction

Glenn Rix (Georgia) has been appointed to a three-year term with the Advisory Committee on Earthquake Hazards Reduction (ACEHR) for the United States Department of Commerce.

A significant honor for a geotechnical earthquake engineer, the committee Glenn joins is charged with assessing trends and developments in the science and engineering of earthquake hazards reduction; the effectiveness of the National Earthquake Hazards Reduction Program (NEHRP); as well as the management, coordination, implementation, and activities of NEHRP.

The ACEHR will advise four agencies involved in NEHRP: National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), United States Geological Survey (USGS), and National Science Foundation (NSF).

Willie E. May, P.D., Under Secretary of Commerce for Standards and Technology, and Director of the National Institute of Standards and Technology welcomed Glenn to the committee saying. "I appreciate the commitment you make to the Nation by serving on the Committee, and I look forward to working with you."
