Geosyntec Staff to Present and Chair Sessions at the Global Congress on Process Safety

Geosyntec staff will present and chair sessions at the 2016 Spring Meeting and 12th Global Congress on Process Safety in Houston, Texas on April 10-13, 2016. Our staff will be representing MMI Engineering, a division of Geosyntec.

The Center for Chemical Process Safety (CCPS) is an organization within the American Institute of Chemical Engineers (AIChE). CCPS addresses process safety in the fields of chemical, pharmaceutical, and petroleum industries. AIChE is the worlds largest organization for chemical engineering with more than 50,000 members from over 100 different countries. Together CCPS and AIChE Safety & Health Division present the Global Congress on Process Safety annually to promote elements of safety and process safety for technical areas.

MMI Participation

  • Eric Peterson (Texas) will chair with Sanjeev Saraf (BP) as co-chair all of the Process Safety Spotlights. 17 sessions in total, taking place between April 11-13, 2016.
  • David Weimer (Texas) will chair a session that will address the influence of human factors associated with chemical process safety. Topics will span the human influence gamut from facility conception through decommissioning, with an expectation that most center on operation. The session is entitled "Human Factors in Chemical Process Safety I" and will take place 10:30am - 12:00pm on April 11, 2016.
  • Tony Liu (Texas) will co-chair a session will discuss process simulation, optimization and control in gas processing applications. The session is entitled "Process Simulation, Optimization and Control in Gas Applications II" and will take place 3:30pm - 5:00pm on April 11, 2016.
  • Morgan Reed (Texas) will co-chair three sessions throughout the day these sessions will discuss applications and recent advancements in consequence analysis, facility siting technology, and quantitative risk analysis, as well as integration and application of such tools and techniques into corporate risk assessment. The sessions are entitled "Facility Siting, Consequence Analysis, and Risk Assessment" and will take place on April 12, 2016.
  • Anh Bui (Texas), Morgan Reed (Texas), Eric Peterson (Texas), and Tony Liu (Texas) will also present a paper during the 'LNG, LPG, and NGL Safety' session entitled "Multiphase Flow Modeling of LNG Using Smoothed Particle Hydrodynamic (SPH) Techniques" on April 11, 2016.
