Rudolph Bonaparte Receives 2016 OPAL Award

The Geosyntec family of companies is proud that ASCE has honored Rudolph Bonaparte with the 2016 Outstanding Projects and Leaders (OPAL) Lifetime Achievement Award for Design.

The OPAL awards, given to only five of 150,000 ASCE members, recognize outstanding civil engineering leaders like Rudy whose significant accomplishments across their careers have contributed to construction, design, education, government, or management.

Rudy's award is based on his extensive experience in the siting, design, permitting, construction, and closure of municipal, industrial, and hazardous-waste landfills and liquid impoundments. It is also based on his role as a national leader in the design and performance evaluation of waste-containment systems for all types of solid-waste landfills. He has directed, managed, and served as engineer-of-record on numerous projects for many public- and private-sector clients.

Far from resting on his accomplishments, Rudy continues to drive Geosyntec forward with his robust commitment to leadership in design, including developing cleanup strategies and detailed designs for several heavily polluted waterways in the New York City region.

Rudy is most proud of his 20 years as President and CEO of Geosyntec. "When so many engineering firms are getting big, I feel like we have really created a nice environment for our staff to grow professionally and personally and have careers they can be proud of," Rudy said. "They need to feel like they have equal opportunities and they're a partner. We're all in this together."
