Dogus Meric Engaged in Developing a New Standard Guide for Sediment Corrective Action

Dogus Meric to Participate in the ASTM International Task Group for Developing a New Standard Guide for Sediment Corrective Action

Dogus Meric, a Geoenvironmental Engineer based in Illinois, has been invited to participate in the ASTM International Task Group for Developing a New Standard Guide for Sediment Corrective Action. The task group was created as part of the ExxonMobil Environmental Services' initiative, and has participants from DuPont, ExxonMobil, and WE Energies. Three law firms participating are Connell Foley, Baker Botts, and Zarwin Baum DeVito Kaplan Schaer Toddy, P.C. There will also be contributing federal and local government agencies, and environmental consulting firms.
The goal of the group is to create a comprehensive, easily referenced and widely accepted international standard guide for contaminated sediment management and corrective actions in both small and mega sediment sites. ASTM International believes that preparation of guidelines under their structure will provide fair chance to industrial parties, government agencies and consultants to share their opinions. ASTM International believes that other guidelines published by other organizations can be biased towards the needs of regulatory agencies or industrial partners’ opinions. So this task group is designed to promote equal treatment of all concerned.
