EPA's Administrator Appoints Dr. Rula Deeb to the Science Advisory Board's Environmental Engineering Committee

We are very proud to announce that Principal Rula Deeb (Oakland) was invited to serve as a member of the U.S. EPA Science Advisory Board's Environmental Engineering Committee through September 2018. This prestigious appointment was made by the Administrator of the EPA, who defines the role as follows:

"As Administrator, I am committed to employing sound science in the EPA's pursuit of resolutions to a broad range of urgent environmental issues. Committee members' scientific and technical expertise, experience and innovation play critical roles in the success of the EPA's approach to environmental protection. I rely on the committee for the expert guidance that is essential to the EPA 's ability to protect public health and safeguard the environment."

The EPA's Science Advisory Board (SAB) was created under the Federal Advisory Committee Act in 1978 with the goal of providing independent advice and peer review to the EPA's Administrator about the scientific and technical aspects of environmental issues. The EPA Administrator noted that Dr. Deeb's expertise in the field of wastewater treatment "would be a great asset to the committee."

We congratulate Rula for this recognition of her years of prominent technical work and research that led to this appointment.
