Geosyntec Practitioners to Present at Australian Remediation Conference

Practitioners from Geosyntec Consultants are among the presenters scheduled to appear September 15-18 at CleanUp 2013, the 5th International Contaminated Site Remediation Conference in Melbourne, Australia.

CleanUp 2013 is Australia's premier conference for contaminated site and remediation industry professionals. The event will be held at the Crown Conference Centre, 8 Whiteman Street Southbank in the Melbourne CBD. Pre-registration is required.

A group of Geosyntec senior practitioners will present half-day workshops on September 15. David Reynolds, Ph.D., P.Eng, and Julie Konzuk, Ph.D., P.Eng., both senior environmental engineers and Associates of the firm based in Ontario, will present a workshop entitled "Detailed Site Characterization: Approaches, Outcomes and Managing the Data."

Joining them as co-instructors for the workshop are Ed Fahnline, P.E., a senior civil engineer, and Anthony Goh, P.E., a Senior Consultant and environmental engineer for Geosyntec, both based in Kuala Lumpur.

In addition, Garry Smith, Ph.D., a biochemist, toxicologist, and Senior Consultant for Geosyntec based in Sydney, will present another workshop, "Applying Sustainability Principles to Remediation in ANZ." Dr. Smith is the inaugural chairman of the Sustainable Remediation Forum of Australia and New Zealand (SuRF ANZ).

Sandra Dworatzek, a senior microbiologist at Geosyntec based in Ontario, is the co-instructor of a third workshop, "In Situ Bioremediation for the Practitioner." Ms. Dworatzek is the manager of SiREM, a division of Geosyntec and a global provider of advanced products and services to the bioremediation industry.

Dr. Reynolds, Dr. Konzuk, Dr. Smith, Ms. Dworatzek, and Hester Groenevelt (Toronto) will present on multiple on topics at the conference, including electrokinetic-enhanced amendment delivery for remediation of low permeability materials; dense non-aqueous phase liquid remediation; sustainability; bioremediation; and vapor intrusion. Throughout the event, Geosyntec's practitioners will be on hand in Booth 13A to discuss their experience with diverse types of contaminated site and remediation projects in Australia and Southeast Asia.
