Glenn Rix Joins Geosyntec in Georgia

Glenn J. Rix, Ph.D., has joined Geosyntec Consultants as a principal geotechnical engineer based in Georgia. Dr. Rix brings to the firm more than 24 years of research, teaching, and professional service experience as a faculty member at the Georgia Institute of Technology. At Geosyntec, he will focus his expertise on solving challenging problems for both public and private sector clients.

Dr. Rix's areas of expertise include geotechnical earthquake engineering and seismic hazard and risk analysis, particularly in the Central and Eastern United States; soil dynamics; and near-surface geophysical methods. While at Georgia Tech, Dr. Rix attracted more than $10.5 million in sponsored research projects as either the principal or co-principal investigator; authored or co-authored more than 50 refereed publications; and delivered more than 70 technical presentations at national and international conferences.

Between 2005 and 2011, Dr. Rix directed the George E. Brown Jr. Network for Earthquake Engineering Simulation Grand Challenge project on "Seismic Risk Management for Port Systems," sponsored by the National Science Foundation. In this role, he led a large, multidisciplinary research team with expertise in geotechnical and structural engineering, logistics, and risk and decision analysis.
