Dr. Chris Campbell has joined Geosyntec's Oakland, Ca., office as a Senior Scientist. Chris has extensive experience in water quality assessments associated with industrial stormwater programs, endocrine disrupting compounds in surface water and groundwater, heavy metal and suspended sediment transport, and water security monitoring approaches for detecting intentional attacks on drinking water.

His professional work history included projects for the Yucca Mountain Nuclear Waste Repository in Nevada and Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory. His research included focus on unsaturated zone processes, climate, and infiltration issues. Chris also monitored and provided regulatory guidance on the Clean Water Act NPDES including industrial and municipal stormwater programs and associated stormwater pollution prevention plans, spill response, and designation of jurisdictional waters.

Since joining Geosyntec, Chris has been involved in various water resources projects, such as conducting a technical review of best management practices (BMPs) for treatment of selenium and nitrate in urban creeks in the southern California. He also conducted analysis of stormwater runoff data, BMPs, and strategies to reduce pollutants in runoff from a local recycling and transfer station located in northern California and a stormwater monitoring program for the City of Sacramento.

Chris has co-authored more than 40 peer-reviewed scientific publications and reports on various water quality topics. He earned his doctoral degree from the University of California (UC), Berkeley, studying subsurface hillslope runoff and nonpoint source pollution. He completed his Master's and Bachelor's degrees at UC Berkeley as well.
