Beth Gross to Join Board of Governors for ASCE Geo-Institute

Beth Gross, Ph.D., P.E., a geotechnical engineer and an Associate of Geosyntec Consultants based in Texas, has accepted an invitation to join the Board of Governors for the Geo-Institute of the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE). She will serve a three-year term beginning in October 2014.

The ASCE's Geo-Institute is a specialty membership organization focused on geo-professionals and the geo-technics industry, which includes agencies and private firms around the United States that provide geotechnical, geoenvironmental, and geological engineering and consulting services to a wide range of clients and communities.

The Geo-Institute formed in 1996 and today is one of the ASCE's eight specialty institutes. It has more than 11,000 members who are committed to improving the environment, mitigating natural hazards, and constructing engineered facilities in the United States and around the world.

Geosyntec is an Organizational Member of the Geo-Institute, and a number of the firm's geotechnical engineers are long-standing individual members as well. Dr. Gross has been a member of the Geo-Institute's Geoenvironmental Engineering Committee since the early 1990s and was its chair between 2000 and 2005. She also is a member of the institute's Technical Coordination Council and Continuing Education Committee and is an editor of the institute's Geo-Strata magazine.

At Geosyntec, Dr. Gross offers clients more than 25 years of experience with geotechnical engineering, waste containment, and environmental site assessment and management.
She is a recognized authority on the performance of waste containment systems and has played a major role in developing technical support and guidance documents related to liner systems and cover systems for the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency.
