Ilisa Tawney to Present at 2012 Sustainable Remediation Conference in Vienna

Ilisa Tawney, P.E., a project engineer based in Geosyntec's Maryland office, will present at the 2nd International Conference on Sustainable Remediation in Vienna, Austria, on November 14-16, 2012.

The title of her presentation is "Reducing Environmental Impact through Biological In Situ Enhanced Reductive Dechlorination via Closed-Loop Groundwater Circulation at a German Site." Ms. Tawney's presentation is part of Session Five: Sustainability Management.

The presentation highlights a site investigation and remediation project Ms. Tawney conducted with Neal Durant, Ph.D., a Geosyntec principal and environmental engineer based in Maryland, and Paul Brookner, P.G., a Geosyntec associate and hydrogeologist based in Minnesota. The project represents one of the first closed-loop groundwater recirculation systems in Germany for delivery of biological in situ enhanced reductive dechlorination (ERD) treatment agents.

The Sustainable Remediation Conference 2012, organized by EURODEMO+ with the U.S. EPA and CL:AIRE (Contaminated Lands: Applications in Real Environments) as partners, provides an international venue for professionals and interested parties to share experiences and perspectives on how contaminated sites can be remediated with a lower environmental footprint.
