Geosyntec Participates in 4th Asian and Oceanic Congress on Radiation Protection

Geosyntec Consultants will contribute two presentation papers and six posters on the decommissioning and disposal of naturally occurring radioactive materials (NORM) at the 4th Asian and Oceanic Congress on Radiation Protection (AOCRP-4).

The organizer of this year's congress, set for 12-16 May 2014 at the Putra World Trade Centre in Kuala Lumpur, is the Malaysia Radiation Protection Association (MARPA) in collaboration with the International Radiation Protection Association (IRPA).

The AOCRP-4 serves as a scientific platform dedicated to the professional exchange of information, knowledge, and experiences in the field of radiation protection and nuclear safety.

The contributed papers and poster presentations were prepared in collaboration with a client, the Atomic Energy Licensing Board of Malaysia, and Geosyntec Consultants in the United States. The papers are:

  • An Innovative, Effective, and Successful Approach to Disposal of Rare Earths Processing Residues Contaminated With Low Levels of Naturally Occurring Radioactive Materials (NORM)
  • Integration of Occupational Safety and Radiation Protection during Decommissioning and Disposal (D&D) Works
  • Challenges and Issues in Managing the Disposal of Naturally Occurring Radioactive Materials (NORM) Associated With Rare Earths Processing
  • Measuring and Managing Radon and Thoron Levels in Naturally Occurring Radioactive Materials (NORM) Handling and Processing Facilities
  • Radiological Monitoring and Evaluation of Worker's Exposures during the Implementation of Decommissioning and Disposal (D&D) Project
  • Wastewater Management for LTSF-D&D project
  • Environmental Monitoring Program
  • Radiological Performance Assessment
