Tim Seldon and Scott Sheridan to Join Panelists at STAC Stormwater and Solar Workshop

Tim Seldon, PE, and Scott Sheridan, PE (Virginia), will speak on the Industry Panel of the Chesapeake Bay Program’s (CBP) Scientific and Technical Advisory Committee (STAC) workshop, “Best Management Practices to Minimize Impacts of Solar Farms on Landscape Hydrology and Water Quality” at George Mason University in Manassas, Virginia, on April 6 and 7, 2023.

Tim and Scott’s co-panelists are employees at Lightsource BP, Dominion Energy, and Kimley-Horn.

Tim Seldon is a Senior Engineer with more than 13 years of experience focused on water and natural resources, geotechnical and geoenvironmental engineering, waste management, and power transmission and delivery. He consults on the development of public and private sites and manages projects.

Scott Sheridan is a Senior Principal Civil and Geotechnical Engineer with more than 20 years of experience providing professional engineering, construction management, and consulting services to solid waste, power utility, and industrial clients.

The STAC workshop will explore the potential impact of land-use transition and renewable energy within the Chesapeake Bay watershed, and the ability this work has in regard to meeting TMDL goals. The event will discuss the impact of solar farms on hydrology and water quality, particularly in the context of the Chesapeake Bay watershed. The effort aims to synthesize considerations for a range of site and management conditions and project scales, identifying associated science gaps and best management practices.

Since its creation in 1984, STAC has worked to enhance scientific communication and outreach throughout the Chesapeake Bay watershed and beyond. The committee provides independent scientific and advice through technical reports, position papers, discussion groups, and technical workshops. It also conducts merit reviews of the Chesapeake Bay Program projects.
