Sola Komolafe, PhD, PE, was named a 2025 Emerging Leader by the Offshore Technology Conference (OTC) at an award ceremony on Tuesday, May 6, in Houston, Texas. This award recognizes ten early career professionals as emerging leaders in the offshore energy sector in their field of work, service to the industry, innovation, and focus on safety.

Sola is the third Geosyntec professional to receive this honor since its conception in 2021. Patricia Varela, PhD, was recognized as a member of the inaugural class of 2021, and Ajay Shastri, PhD, was recognized in 2022.

Sola is a Project Engineer based in Texas with experience in offshore geotechnical site investigation, offshore geotechnics, offshore deep foundations, and soil characterization in support of the oil & gas and wind farm industries. She conducts offshore and onshore laboratory testing, desktop studies, data interpretation, foundation analysis and design, and data reporting. Sola’s research has addressed structural and geotechnical engineering of foundations, as well as post-hurricane investigations.

The Emerging Leaders program recognizes one young professional with less than 10 years of experience from each of the OTC’s sponsoring, endorsing, and supporting organizations. Winners are selected for their key contributions to the offshore energy sector in their field of work, service to the industry, innovation, and focus on safety.

At this major annual conference, more than 30,000 energy professionals from around the world gathered in Houston to discuss, debate, and build consensus around the most pressing topics facing the offshore energy sector.
