The session will feature six presentations that address Rudy’s wide-ranging technical contributions to the fields of geosynthetics and geotechnical engineering. One of the speakers will be Geosyntec’s Bob Bachus, PhD, PE, D.GE, a Senior Principal Engineer at Geosyntec, expert in geotechnical engineering, and longtime colleague.
Rudy is a Senior Principal Engineer based in Georgia with more than 40 years of experience focused on geotechnical and geoenvironmental engineering; contaminated site, waterway, and sediment assessment and remediation; and solid, hazardous, and low-level radioactive waste disposal facility permitting and design. In addition, he has served the firm as CEO for 20 years and, subsequently, as Chair of our Board of Directors for 14 years.
In service to the profession, Rudy authors papers, book chapters, and government reports, in addition to serving on editorial boards. His awards include the Lifetime Achievement in Engineering Award from the Georgia Society of Professional Engineers, the Terzaghi Lecture Award of the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) and the ASCE James R. Croes Medal, among others. He is a member of the Academy of Distinguished Alumni of the Maseeh Department of Civil, Architectural, and Environmental Engineering at the University of Texas and serves as Professor of the Practice at Georgia Tech.
Geotechnical Frontiers occurs every six years and is the merging of the Geosynthetics Conference and the annual Geo-Congress. The four-day event features more than 200 exhibits, short courses, panel discussions, plenary sessions, round-table discussions, technical paper lectures, and poster presentations.
The conference is organized by the Advanced Textile Association’s Geosynthetic Materials Association and the American Society of Civil Engineer’s Geo-Institute.
