Melissa Setz Chosen as the ASDSO Young Professional of the Year Award

Melissa (Missy) Setz, PE, earned the 2024 Young Professional of the Year Award from the Association of State Dam Safety Officials (ASDSO). She was honored at a luncheon on Monday, September 23, 2024, in Denver, Colorado.

Cory Miyamoto of the California Department of Water Resources was also a recipient of the award.

Missy is a Senior Engineer based in Georgia with more than 10 years of professional experience in geotechnical, civil, and dam safety engineering. She supports clients by addressing dams, levees, and hydraulic structures in need of material characterization. She often conducts geotechnical evaluations and construction oversight.

The ASDSO Young Professional of the Year Award recognizes members under 40 working in the dam-safety field who have made outstanding contributions to the Association, their organizations, or the dam-safety industry. The nominee is selected with the concurrence of the ASDSO Board of Directors and the Young Professionals Interest Group.

Founded in 1984, the ASDSO works to improve the condition and safety of dams and lower the risk of dam failures by educating members, supporting state dam-safety programs, and fostering a unified dam-safety community.
