Presentations

PFAS Regulatory Updates

Time: 9:30 a.m. CDT
Presenter: Hannah McIntyre
Description: This presentation will provide an overview of the evolving regulations on PFAS, USEPA’s past and current actions to address PFAS, and action taken in the Midwest. The talk will touch on recent federal updates including maximum contaminant levels, CERCLA designations, and disposal and destruction guidance. The presentation will also include a brief description of treatment technologies, and viable treatment options to meet the stringent regulations being put in place.

Understanding Exclusions, Exemptions, and Other Options to Minimize Waste and Save Money
Time: 8:30 a.m. CDT
Presenter: Suzanne Gabriele
Description: Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA) regulations are quite extensive, as they are contained in title 40 of the Code of Federal Regulations (CFR) parts 239 through 282. Certain materials are excluded from the definition of solid waste, which means they are not considered hazardous waste under RCRA. There are also exemptions that allow for the management of hazardous waste with a reduced set of regulations. This presentation will explore some of the exclusions and exemptions available under RCRA, as well as other options available to the regulated community to minimize waste. It will also identify the many ways in which waste reduction and more regimented waste management practices can save money.
