Geosyntec Supports Newly Adopted City of Los Angeles Park Needs Assessment

On December 18, 2025, the City of Los Angeles Department of Recreation and Parks Board of Commissioners adopted a new Park Needs Assessment (PNA) after 11 months of research, community engagement, and public feedback.

The PNA provides a roadmap for improving a parks-and-recreation system that has been hit hard by stagnant spending and declining staffing.

Geosyntec Consultants, as a part of the consultant team assembled by OLIN, led the civil infrastructure and water resources analyses and helped develop a decision-making framework for RAP to prioritize spending on improving existing parks and building new parks based on where investments will serve the most people in the highest areas of need.

Led by Haley Bauer, Stephanie Zinn, Alyssa Yu, Mark Hanna, Nick Nasab, Daniel Lee, and Levi Walden, the Geosyntec team also supported the comprehensive cost estimate for the 16,000-acre City park system, which will serve as a basis for potential future funding opportunities. The team also participated in a broad outreach and engagement effort to gather ideas and feedback from residents of the City of Los Angeles.
