Geosyntec Contributes to the DoW Applied Innovation Workshop

Rula Deeb, Zach Pandelides, and Elizabeth Nichols of Geosyntec, Brent Pautler of SiREM, and Laura Kinsman of Savron will contribute to the Department of War (DoW) Applied Innovation Workshop on March 2 through 5, 2026, in Washington, DC.

Geosyntec is also a 2026 Workshop Sponsor of the event.

Rula is a Senior Principal based in California with more than 25 years of experience focused on addressing the cross-media fate and transport of contaminants and remediating complex soil and groundwater sites. She is an internationally recognized expert on the sources, occurrences, fate and transport, and behavior of per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS).

Elizabeth is a Senior Staff Professional based in Maryland focused on ecological risk assessments. Her areas of expertise include ecotoxicology, aquatic toxicity testing, sediments and porewater evaluation, and molecular biology.

Zach is a Scientist based in Louisiana who focuses on assessing environmental risk and sediment and water quality. His recent work has involved assessing ecological risks regarding PFAS and obtaining critical data to assess the toxicity of PFAS to marine organisms.

Brent is the Chemistry Services Manager at SiREM in Ontario. He brings more than 10 years of experience in spectroscopy, chromatography, mass spectrometry, passive sampling, and chemistry informatics. Throughout his career, Brent has worked with scientists, engineers, and consultants to help solve unique problems in the laboratory and the field.

Laura is a Senior Professional based at Savron in Ontario with more than 10 years of experience researching and implementing smoldering remediation. Laura supports smoldering remediation systems across North America and Asia, including pilot testing and full-scale application of in situ and ex situ systems.

The DoW Applied Innovation Workshop brings together researchers, technology developers, policymakers, and defense end-users to showcase cutting-edge science and technologies that support military installations, enhance warfighter capabilities, and drive force modernization. The workshop offers a variety of technical sessions, short courses, and networking opportunities, along with more than 650 technical poster presentations.
