Continuous Emission Monitoring System Design and Implementation

Geosyntec frequently aids clients as they develop comprehensive environmental management strategies, optimize their plant operations, and increase the efficiency of their air emissions control technology. This includes the installation, evaluation, and enhancement of continuous emissions monitoring (CEM) systems that reduce concentrations of sulfur dioxide (SO2) and nitrogen oxides (NOx).

Our air practitioners assist in the selection of appropriate CEM devices and in the optimization of existing control devices utilizing computational fluid dynamic modeling, thus enabling clients to meet their regulatory requirements under the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency's Acid Rain Program. Our innovations also can minimize a facility's operational costs and help clients meet local, state, and national requirements for equipment performance specifications, certification procedures, and recordkeeping and reporting.

We offer installation of advanced hardware and software for continuous monitoring of a wide range of air emissions, including ammonia (NH3) and sulfur trioxide (SO3). We also provide data management and equipment maintenance to ensure maximum equipment up-time and effective data collection and analysis.

In addition, our monitoring solutions can provide measurements with a high time resolution (on the order of seconds), allowing clients to assess the variability of concentrations at any given sample traverse point. We also have the proven ability to conduct analytical measurements in a variety of extreme conditions, such as extreme heat, confined spaces, and high-dust environments.
