Randy Brandt, P.G. (California) recently participated in the National Brownfield Coalition Leadership Summit Planning Meeting held in Washington D.C. on September 17 – 18, 2019.
Randy is a Senior Principal Geologist based in California with more than 30 years of management and technical experience with Brownfield and hazardous waste issues. He has focused on development and implementation of environmental restoration programs for blighted hazardous waste sites and contaminated lands ranging in size from gasoline service stations to closed military bases.
As a member of the Coalition's planning committee, Randy helped shape its agenda for 2020. In addition, he gave presentations on Capitol Hill to two California Senators and eight California Representatives advocating for full funding of the EPA's Brownfield Grant program that is currently being considered in the Congressional budgeting process for 2020.
The National Brownfields Coalition, a coalition of Smart Growth America and the Center for Creative Land Recycling (CCLR), is a group of national, state and local organizations that supports federal policies that will accelerate cleanup and redevelopment of contaminated and abandoned land. The Coalition represents diverse economic, community, environmental, and development interests that share a common mission: promoting brownfields redevelopment as a core strategy for achieving job growth, community revitalization, and sustainable growth objectives.
The Center for Creative Land Recycling, sponsored in part by Geosyntec, is the leading national nonprofit dedicated to transforming communities through land recycling. This means converting abandoned or vacant commercial and industrial properties to assets that benefit the community, create jobs and generate new tax revenues. CCLR helps transformations happen by educating and convening communities, government agencies, and the private sector to create optimal conditions for reinvestment. Over the past 20 years, CCLR has assisted in bringing millions of dollars in grants to places across the U.S. and trained nearly 10,000 community-oriented specialists through our professional workshops.
